everyone asks, "sooooo, how are you coming on your scrapbook?" my response is, "sooooo, i've got about four pages done. but, that's better than nothing right? it's so hard for me. i've never really enjoyed this past-time. i'd much rather take the pictures and then put them in frames or blow them up really big and put them on a wall. my mom and my sister got the crafty (and i don't mean church gym craft sale crafty) side of the creative d.n.a. and i like to think that i got the good taste side (they both have that too--they have everything!)....humble, i know. so, i keep running into these crafting road blocks where i look at a page i'm working on and think it's missing something or it's too much or i can't think of a good caption for a picture or i can't think of what to do next or i take a facebook or etsy break and then lose the mojo. but, to prove to everyone that it is getting done i've included these pictures to show you that it's definitely a work in progress.
we're patiently awaiting our home-study to be finished. we haven't received the report in the mail yet. once we do and "sign-off" on it we'll be officially on the "list" and then i'll really feel the pressure to get this book in. but, we have nothing going on tonight....it's snowing like crazy, i'm making a pot of chili, chris is watching some really interesting cop/prison in-mate/how to remove fish hooks from your hands/how things are made/gang activity in antarctica/mating rituals of llama's, etc. television so i'm hoping to accomplish a lot.
and....not to make a promise i can't keep....but chris has told me that he's going to make a debut on this blog soon. stay tuned for witty writing from my funny husband.....maybe he'll let you know what he thinks about the names i've chosen.

Hi Maggie!
You could be the most creative person I know! Just look at your lesson plans. I am positive your scrapbook will not only be absolutely perfect, but will inspire any person looking through it and let them know that you will be the perfect parents.

hi maggie,
i can't remember how i found your blog, but i discovered it a while ago. i feel like i should come out of lurkdom and let you know that i'm out here.
your adoption is an incredibly personal journey, so i would not be even remotely offended if you asked me not to visit anymore. so please zap me an email if you feel funny about me reading. if you like i can share with you my blog - it's private cuz i get the whole personal thing.
as someone who has gone thru the adoption journey, i have great empathy for much that you must be feeling. and as someone who has waiting for a first child to arrive, i can certainly appreciate all that goes with that too.
i think your scrapbook will be great. i personally prefer scrapbooks that are more pictures than captions. but, that's just me.
i'm so excited for you guys. i cry every time i think of our mysterious God and His ways that seem so baffling and confusing to us. He is so good and amazing... the way He moves the puzzle pieces around, sometimes much more slowly than we'd like, to create the perfect masterpiece.
good luck on the name thing. my husband vetoed lots of the more unique names i had picked for our older kids. when it's all said & done, they seem to become their name and it will be perfect. our little girls names were chosen just as more american versions of their russian names. we only had one hour to name them - talk about stressful! we learned that their birth mama's had NOT named them, so that made me feel a little bit better about changing their names.
ok, i'm rambling. very, very excited to hear how God brings your sweet child to you.
